From Coast to Coast: Thousands Unite to Demonstrate that
Clean Energy is Ready Now
On September 21, Barrington Congregational Church, UCC will participate in Sun Day, a nationwide celebration of clean energy progress. We’ll be joining communities across the country to showcase the businesses, organizations, and families that are already leading the way to a clean energy future.
Spearheaded by renowned environmental activist and UCC Pastor Bill McKibben, and organized by a broad coalition of clean energy workers, advocates, scientists, and community leaders, this nationwide event will feature events across all 50 states, creating a powerful, coordinated day of action.
☀️ We invite the community to join us for a family-friendly community event featuring activities highlighting solar and clean energy as well as local sustainability efforts.
We’re proud to announce the recent completion of solar panel installation on our Christian Education Building, now powering the facility’s electrical needs and is already delivering a significant reduction in energy costs. Phase Two will extend solar power to our Sanctuary Building, further advancing our commitment to clean, reliable energy.
The day’s events will include:
- Family-Friendly Worship service at 10am followed by:
- Guided tour and discussion of our solar installation, and mini-split heating and cooling
- Electric vehicle demonstrations led by East Bay Mothers Out Front
- Hands-on climate advocacy through postcard signing to send to Congress. Your voice matters!
- Learn about the Barrington Pilot Composting Program, a partnership of Eastern RI Conservation District, and Town of Barrington
- Learn about going solar for your home or business
- Pollinator Garden Guided Tour – explore our thriving garden, learning how native plants support bees, butterflies, and biodiversity, and simple ways to create pollinator-friendly spaces at home
